On April 11th, a team of professionals from Stevens & Associates including four graduates of Brattleboro Union High School participated in a BUHS Careers in Architecture & Engineering panel discussion. The team enjoyed sharing their stories with students and will continue discussions during a BUHS tour of the S&A offices and studios located in downtown Brattleboro, VT.

February 24th, Bob Stevens, a graduate of the University of Vermont will be presenting the ‘Role of the Engineer in Society’ sharing his personal experience as an engineer, commercial property owner, and civic-minded community leader. This interactive workshop with students will discuss the pivotal event that inspired Bob to merge engineering with development to create a model for initiating and funding downtown revitalization projects.

Casey joins Stevens & Associates as an administrative assistant with a passion for architecture, planning, sustainable design, and historic preservation. She is an active member of the Brattleboro community, serving on the Planning Commission and the Board of Directors for the Windham County Humane Society. As a staff member, Casey hopes to gain a broader understanding of the various disciplines offered by S&A expanding her knowledge and interests concerning local and neighboring community projects. In her spare time she enjoys architectural drawing and is inspired by the architecture of Brattleboro and her travels.

Bob Stevens is delighted to present at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) annual dinner meeting for the Vermont and New Hampshire sections. This presentation will include an overview of two mixed-use design projects as case studies to explore how engineers can contribute to communities through projects and how the role of the engineer can reach new levels within the industry to accomplish the “big picture”.

S&A Welcomes Diane Abate, Architect & Project Manager to Their Team
Recently relocating to southern Vermont, Diane brings to S&A over 20 years of experience in the field of design and architecture. She earned her Bachelor of Science: Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture: Architecture degrees from CUNY Spitzer School of Architecture graduating with honors and receiving an Excellence in Design and Best Thesis Project awards. Prior to joining S&A, Diane was an Associate with Peter Gisolfi Associates located in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Diane looks forward to applying her extensive knowledge of project management, building design and construction document production to her new projects, and is excited to play a role in the design and development of her new surroundings.
S&A Architectural Designer Shares Experiences From Europe
S&A Architectural Designer, Jillian Tomaselli a recipient of the Tai Soo Kim Traveling Fellowship is traveling throughout Europe visiting residential buildings in London, a nature center and museum in Helsinki, and an office building in Zurich. Jillian wrote, “We’ve learned from our conversations with the architects that there’s definitely a challenging learning curve involved the first time an office designs with CLT, but often those challenges are outweighed by the benefits, such as schedule, sustainability, etc.” Below are photographs Jillian has shared demonstrating a mixed use building and a CLT building under construction in London, part of a nature center in Helsinki, and the lobby of an office building in Zurich.
