The Putney School approached Stevens & Associates to design and reconstruct two existing, full-sized soccer and lacrosse fields on its property. With a limited overall budget of $170,000 for two fields, the school wanted to improve drainage, redesign grading, and improve the natural grass playing surfaces all while minimizing the impact of construction on the playing schedule of the athletic teams.
The project required stripping topsoil; regrading the subbase; and screening, amending, and reapplying growing medium. An irrigation system was installed for field maintenance. Stevens & Associates led the permitting process, which included Act 250 permitting and a water supply permit for the irrigation system.
