In the year 2000, working with MW/LA Landscape Architects, Stevens & Associates completed a master plan for the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro, Vermont. The plan emphasized pedestrian safety by creating a core pedestrian network within the heart of the campus and moving parking to the site’s perimeter. It creatively used the site’s topography to provide terraced gathering areas on several levels, using buildings to make the transition between differences in elevation. The plan provided the basis for the creation of a Planned Unit Development.
