The Windham Foundation retained Stevens & Associates to prepare a feasibility study and master plan for the Retreat Farm, a 19th-century working farm in Brattleboro, Vermont. The primary goal of the study was to investigate the potential adaptive reuse and renovation of the extensive complex of approximately 50,000 square feet of agricultural buildings and structures. A secondary goal was to study the reorganization of pedestrian and vehicular access to the farm, as well as the addition of parking.
A complete permit review was included. S&A listed all existing state, local, and federal permits, and offered an opinion of required permits, approvals, and amendments for envisioned reuse and expansion.
