Steel and Concrete Podium
Stevens & Associates provided structural engineering services for the South Face Village housing project at Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, Vermont. Located on a 200+ acre mountain slope, the new construction project consisted of multiple 14-unit condo buildings, duplexes, and single family homes. Challenges presented at this site included:
• Building on steep mountain slopes
• A new municipal water system extension from the Town of Brattleboro
• Steep slopes required a creative grading concept to maintain effective drainage and to offer handicap accessibility
• Improving parking and pedestrian walkways
South Face Village serves as an excellent example of how structural engineers create meaningful public places through expertise in a range of skills including site design, permitting, stormwater management and utility design. We were able to use our skills in site engineering and environmental design to make this project an economic success.
