In 2016, Ehrmann Commonwealth Dairy announced an expansion to their Brattleboro-based yogurt production facility and relocating administrative offices to a new location to allow additional manufacturing space within the existing plant. Stevens & Associates provided civil engineering and environmental permitting services.
The project included a new driveway, addition to the existing building, a separate DAF and milk truck cleaning building, as well as an expanded parking lot for the facility. Most of the project improvements required a retaining wall.
In preparation, S&A coordinated with a wetland biologist, boring subcontractor and geotechnical engineer, land surveyor and an Archeological Historic Resource Assessment.
The permitting process included local permits, Act 250, wastewater, stormwater, wetlands, and US Army Corps of Engineers permits.
“The Engineers at S&A provided the professional knowledge and guidance needed to design and work through our multi-phased project that included challenging site constraints and required a complex permitting process. With exceptional communication and coordination, the team was responsive to alternative solutions, incorporating existing conditions, and coordinating with contractors and State regulators resulting in a successful project with zero impact on a busy 24/7 manufacturing facility.”
