Architectural Designer (Level I and II)

We are looking to hire an Architectural Designer I or Architectural Designer II to our team. We will be hiring one position, but we are willing to consider candidates matching either job description.

This will be an in-person, full time position with the opportunity to work from home up to two days a week after 3-6 months. You will need to live within a 1-hour drive from the office and be available for in-office work and site visits even when working from home.

Architectural Designer Level I

Essential Functions

  • Professional performing basic architectural assignments. Undertakes a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard architectural techniques.
  • Responsible for the creation of project BIM models, concept design drawings, and construction documents through all phases of the design and construction process, with guidance and oversight from the Project Architect
  • Work with the design team to develop the design concept and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP systems and elements to support the design
  • Responsible for the creation of design and presentation images including, rendered plans and elevations
  • Assist the Project Architect in researching materials, finishes, and construction assemblies and gathering necessary information to develop details and specifications. Assist in creation of reports, plans, estimates and calculations.  Performs tasks which require researching, compiling, and recording information.

Requirements/Skills

Education and Professional Experience
  • Professional or non-professional degree in Architecture
  • 0 to 3 years of professional l or related work experience
  • A minimum of college level coursework in using BIM (Revit) platform
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Revit, Adobe and MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Familiarity with AutoCad, SketchUp a plus
  • Ability to read and understand building plans, technical diagrams, sketches and shop drawings for Architectural work and related disciplines
  • Possesses foundational knowledge in architectural design, production of construction documentation
  • Possesses foundational knowledge in construction practices

Architectural Designer Level II

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for production of design deliverables and construction documentation through all phases of the design process, with input from the Project Architect
  • Assist Project Architect in compliance with regulatory and code requirements.
  • Assist Project Architect in developing and meeting project schedule and budget
  • Perform reviews of design deliverables and construction documentation, analyze unresolved design issues, and identify and delegate tasks necessary to move the project and deliverables forward
  • Assist Project Architect in organizing and distributing project documents and deliverables through all phases
  • Assist the Project Architect in researching materials, finishes, and construction assemblies and gathering necessary information to develop details and specifications
  • Assist the Project Architect in Construction Administration tasks including responding to RFIs, resolving problematic field conditions, and issuing sketches, directives and change-orders
  • Responsible for ongoing adherence to BIM / Documentation standards and best-practices

Requirements/Skills

Education and Professional Experience
  • Professional or non-professional degree in Architecture
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Revit, Adobe and MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Familiarity with AutoCad SketchUp a plus
  • Possesses foundational knowledge of MEP, Structural, and Fire Protection systems and demonstrated experience coordinating building systems to integrate effectively with the design
  • Possesses deep knowledge in architectural design, production of construction documentation, and the construction administration process
  • Possesses knowledge in construction practices, building science, technology, and detailing
Personal Skills
  • Ability to multi‐task, prioritize and maintain organization in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, responsive and timely communicator with team members and clients
