Civil/Structural Engineer

We are looking to hire an Associate or Project Civil /Structural Engineer who embraces new challenge, values being part of a team, and seeks diverse work experience.  We will be hiring one position, but are willing to consider candidates matching either job description.

Associate Civil/Structural Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The associate civil/structural engineer is an entry level position for a person who has completed a two or four year degree in engineering who has passed the EIT exam or will take the exam soon, or a person who has worked his or her way up from drafter, designer or field work, and now has an expertise on certain kinds of projects that is equivalent to those having a degree.  Serves on project teams as a capable and efficient Associate Engineer, often making design determinations under the general direction of the Project Manager.

This is an in-person position with the potential to work from home up to 2 days a week, after a 90-day training period.

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Is assigned to project teams and works under supervision of a project manager or project engineer.
  • Performs calculations.
  • Drafts redlines prepared by the Project Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Prepares reports, opinions, and recommendations for the approval of the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project.
  • May serve as field staff during construction.
  • May have other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS

Education and Professional Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Associates degree with 0-5 years of experience.
  • Engineering Intern/Engineer in Training certification preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Drafting experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams).
  • Knowledge of Revit and Civil 3D a plus.

Personal Skills

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain organization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Personal passion for and commitment to the enduring vitality of historic New England
    buildings and communities.
  • Deep curiosity and creativity, complemented by a drive to solve problems and
    improve systems and processes.
  • Professional demeanor and conduct, exercises good judgment and represents the firm
    with integrity.

Other Job Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A vehicle to access project sites primarily in Windham, Cheshire, and Franklin County.
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground of active construction sites.
  • Ability to carry up to 25lbs.

EXPECTED SALARY

$50,000 – $55,000 annually, plus benefits.

This is an in-person position with the potential to work from home up to 2 days a week, after a 90-day training period.

  • Performs calculations.
  • Prepares engineering drawings.
  • Prepares reports, opinions, and recommendations for final review by the Project Manager concerning the direction of the project.
  • May serve as field staff during construction.
  • May have other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS

Education and Professional Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with 5-8 years of experience.
  • Associates with 9-12 years of experience.
  • Professional engineering license preferred.

Technical Skills
