Director of Architecture

Job Summary

The Director of Architecture is responsible for the successful operation of the Architecture team. Success of the operation will include leadership in thoughtful, quality design that supports our clients goals, along with financial, business development, and staff development goals. The Director will be part of the company leadership team and be responsible for inter-company coordination and their team progress on company goals. The Director will participate in fostering the company reputation and brand in the community.

Typical Duties

Team Management

  • Responsible for backlog and sales goals.
  • Responsible for staff assignments and supervision to successfully complete the work.
  • Collaborates in the development of all team systems for design, project management and team management.
  • Incorporates efficiencies and systems development.
  • Coordinates with other company teams for company integration.
  • Responsible for the creation of project BIM models, design drawings, and construction documents through all phases of the design and construction process, with input from the Project Architect

Executive Leadership Team

  • Participates in company leadership meetings contributing to the company operational, marketing, and policy development.
  • Identifies and executes on quarterly key performance indicators for skill development and content marketing that is in alignment with our company purpose.
  • Is responsible for the team conformance with the company policies and procedures.

Team Staff Development

  • Responsible for identifying staffing needs and getting the right people on the team.
  • Responsible for supporting the staff members and building esprit de corps.
  • Meets frequently with individual staff to collaborate in staff workplan developmentĀ and coaching.
  • Collaboratively leads their team in development of new systems and in solving challenges.

Marketing

  • Develops their team into experts for their uncommon strategic offering.
  • Acts as spokesperson for the firm within the community
  • Responsible for execution of marketing strategies assigned to the team.
  • Identifies prospective clients and projects.
  • Contacts prospective clients and follows up on project leads.

Limits of Authority

The Director has the final authority to hire and fire staff, establish team systems, contract forms and reports. It is expected that the Director will consult with the President and Vice Presidents for advice, guidance, and support on these decisions and to participate in the development and adherence to follow company-wide procedures and operations.

Relationship with Others

  • Reports directly to the President
  • Works directly with the other Directors and leaders of the firm to establish business goals and objectives.
  • Works with VP of Operations in initiatives.
  • Has personal contact with most Team clients.
  • Works with President in developing strategic and business plans.
