Stevens & Associates, working with the Townshend Land Committee, developed a municipal facilities master plan for Taft Meadows, a 17-acre parcel adjacent to the existing village.
The plan was developed in response to Townshend’s increasing need to upgrade its existing Fire Department and Town Highway Department. Other considerations included additional parking adjacent to the village, pedestrian connections to the village and potential expansion of the existing recreational fields.
A series of alternatives were presented to the Land Committee, town select board and the public. Each alternative addressed different program needs and was evaluated for effectiveness in providing facility requirements, establishing sensible pedestrian and vehicle circulation and maintaining village and natural character.
