Hilltop Montessori School approached Stevens & Associates to explore the possibilities for an existing barn on its campus. The school hoped to expand the building into an arts center that would house arts, performance, and recreation spaces.
The final schematic design kept half of the original building, adding theater and gymnasium spaces that can be combined. The theater has windows opening to the views from the site, giving it a second use as an event space.
The project was completed in the autumn of 2014.
