Daly Shoe Building

Stevens & Associates conducted the design and development work for the Windham & Windsor Housing Trust to rehabilitate the Daly Shoe building, a historic manufacturing building. This vacant, deteriorating 37,000 square foot structure was converted into 29 affordable apartment units and 5,400 square feet of office space. Energy efficiency and water conservation were major focal points of the project.

Services included a feasibility assessment of the structure and the site. S&A designed the parking layout, grading and drainage, landscaping, sprinkler system, as well as structural repair and upgrades. The project also involved the remediation of industrial contamination through the Windham Regional Commission’s Brownfields Program.
