Cultural Intrigue

Stevens & Associates provided structural engineering and site design services for Cultural Intrigue, a 16,000-square-foot, steel-framed warehouse in Brattleboro, Vermont. The building includes both warehouse and office space, located on the mezzanine level. The clients wished to design the building to be able to support future addition of residential apartments above the mezzanine.

In addition to the normal structural engineering requirements, Stevens & Associates needed to design the building to resist the forces of flooding to 16 inches above the first floor. The building is located in the floodplain along the Whetstone Brook, and the flood proofing measures served well during Hurricane Irene in 2011.
