Brattleboro’s Union Station

Improvements to Brattleboro’s Union Station, an active passenger train station in need of a new image, were completed in 2013.

The project provided a clear welcoming point for the town of Brattleboro, offering an attractive and comfortable outside waiting area for passengers, along with improved pedestrian connections between the downtown, parking area, waterfront, and platform.

Improvements were made to the site’s functionality with a sidewalk bump-out, improved pedestrian crossing along Bridge Street, and a continuous walkway connecting the parking area to the rail crossing and platform. These features also resulted in creating a safer pedestrian experience.

The project has involved extensive involvement with a town-appointed design committee, and has used numerous public meetings to solicit the community’s ideas for the future of this iconic public space.
