Brattleboro’s Union Station – Brattleboro, VT
Improvements to Brattleboro’s Union Station, an active passenger train station in need of a new image, were completed in 2013.
The project provided a clear welcoming point for the town of Brattleboro, provided an attractive and comfortable outside waiting area for passengers, and improved pedestrian connections between the downtown, parking area, waterfront, and platform.
A sidewalk bump-out and improved pedestrian crossing along Bridge St., and a continuous walkway connecting the parking area to the rail crossing and platform improved the site’s functionality and create a safer pedestrian experience.
The project has involved extensive involvement with a town-appointed design committee and has used numerous public meetings to solicit the community’s ideas for the future of this iconic public space.
